The Asbestos Diseases Foundation of Australia (“ADFA”) held it’s annual Asbestos Awareness Day on November 25, 2016 at the Australian National Maritime Museum. The day is held in memory of the workers’ and family members who have lost their battle to an asbestos related disease.
In attendance on the day was NSW Governor General, His Excellency The Honourable D Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d) and Mrs Linda Hurley, other guests included Barbara Hall-Patron, various politicians, the families of dust disease victims, current sufferers, members from the Dust Disease Authority and Safe Work, students from Holroyd High School (the next generation), ADFA members and members from the community.
A number of speaker’s addressed the audience to discuss the prevalence of asbestos related diseases in our community and to honour the lives of those who have passed from such devastating illnesses.
